Job Summary


The Community Relations Specialist I is responsible for providing community relations and social media support to the Communications team to advance the strategic vision and goals of L.A. Care in the community and across multiple social media platforms. Responsibilities include writing, creative development, securing imaging, conducting research on best practices, tracking and reporting data, routing of sponsorships, and day-of event support at community events.

Duties

Draft, develop, schedule, and provide support for social media messaging/posts, campaigns, content calendars, live events, and assets (basic graphics and photo editing) for social media platforms. Conduct research on local and national health observances, diversity, equity, and inclusion observances, the latest social media best practices and technologies, and other topics as needed. Gather, maintain, and report on stakeholder engagement data, including analyzing and reporting social media metrics. (20%)

 

Support the creation of multi-media deliverables for use in internal and external communication efforts, including designing and developing photo, video, and other assets for use on social media and other communications channels. (20%)

 

Route sponsorships through the administrative review and approval process in accordance with policies and procedures. Develop layout/design of ads for sponsorships. (20%)

 

Provide event planning and day-of support, including administrative support in the planning, delivery and follow-up of virtual and in-person stakeholder meetings and activities. (15%)

 

Attend community events and other convenings to capture content, including but not limited to video and photos, for use by the Communications Department. Attend educational conferences. (15%)

 

Perform other duties as assigned. (10%)

Associate's Degree
In lieu of degree, equivalent education and/or experience may be considered.

Experience

Required:
A minimum of 0-2 years of demonstrated successful experience in a community relations and/or social media setting.

 

Preferred: Experience in a health care setting such as Health Maintenance Organization (HMO)/health plan or other managed care setting.

 

Skills


Required:
Exceptional writing skills to communicate effectively with a range of culturally-diverse target audiences through a variety of platforms. 

 

Strong interpersonal communication skills.

 

Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, photo editing software such as Canva and Photoshop, and video editing software such as InShot.

 

Knowledge of social media trends to inform communication strategies.

 

Ability to multi-task and meet competing deadlines while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy.

 

Demonstrated ability to handle a high-volume workload and to adapt quickly to a fast-changing environment.

 

Good time-management skills.

 

Critical thinker and problem-solving skills.

 

Team player.

 

Preferred:
Bilingual in one of LA Care Health Plan’s threshold languages is highly desirable. English, Spanish, Chinese, Armenian, Arabic, Farsi, Khmer, Korean, Russian, Tagalog, Vietnamese.

Knowledge of health care industry trends.
