Job Summary


As a key member of the Community Resource Center (CRC) team, the Activities Coordinator II reports to the CRC Manager and is responsible for representing L.A. Care and the CRC network mission and vision by providing quality and positive customer experience to health plan members, non-member visitors from the community, and the children that require care while their parents attend health education and fitness classes at the CRC.

 

With the guidance from the CRC Manager, the Activities Coordinator II is responsible for providing child care services as well as coordinating and implementing learning activities for children. The Activities Coordinator  supports CRC activities administratively and operationally.

 

This role requires significant flexibility and adaptability utilizing different approaches, tones, and styles in the various settings and with visitors requiring assistance.

Duties

Administrative Support: Provides the CRC team with administrative support by greeting visitors, maintaining participant and child attendance records, entering notes, receiving phone calls, answering CRC visitor questions, provides basic member services support, documents incident reports, and other clerical duties with an approachable, friendly, and professional attitude. (30%)

 

Children Activities and Safety: Provides oversight and care for children ages 4 through 12 years; Creates a welcoming environment that includes implementing activities to guide social, emotional, intellectual, and physical engagement in a safe space. Coordinates the implementation of activities including but limited to health education for diverse age groups, group sizes, and developmental stages; Ensures children’s safety and wellbeing; and, as necessary, assists with remediation of any challenges in consultation with the CRC Manager; Promotes positive reinforcement and self-esteem by maintaining order using positive and approved re-direct or corrective methods; Maintains  clean environment of the childcare room and ensures that materials are neat and clean.  (30%)

 

Center operations and events: Assists CRC Manager with special assignments for the benefit of the CRC operation and shared CRC goals. Assists with tables, chairs, and fitness equipment set-up to support health education and fitness classes. Provides support during community engagement events by disseminating information and engaging members and participants. (30%)

Education Required

High School Diploma/or High School Equivalency Certificate

Education Preferred

Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development Coursework

Experience

Required:
0-6 months of child care experience, familiarity with children engagement activities appropriate to child development stage.

Preferred:
Bilingual in one of LA Care Health Plan’s threshold languages is highly desirable (English, Spanish, Chinese, Armenian, Arabic, Farsi, Khmer, Korean, Russian, Tagalog, or Vietnamese).
