Job Summary

The Director, Information Technology Quality Assurance is responsible for defining and promoting a quality mindset across IT which includes responsibilities such as planning, developing, and directing quality assurance policies, programs, and initiatives.   Evaluates and monitors tools, methodologies and automation to ensure effective testing and identification of defects.  Directs process and product testing to ensure technical releases comply with established quality standards.  In addition to leading the quality assurance functional and non-functional testers, has responsibility for the environment management team.  Develops strategic plans for assigned areas of responsibility, and collaborates with senior IT management to ensure strategies align with IT's overall strategic goals, policies and procedures.  In broader IT strategy development process, provides input for decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility.

  • Lead definition and implementation of IT Quality Assurance standards, methodologies, and processes to be executed across technology releases.  Drive implementation and continuous refinement of testing processes, environments, models and tools to be used to assess performance of the technology solutions relative to defined requirements.
  • Define and drive the strategic roadmap for the IT Quality Assurance function to ensure the highest standards of performance are consistently delivered by IT teams.
  • Provide direct oversight and leadership for enterprise IT Quality Assurance team. Develops and mentors staff to build a culture of excellence in the IT QA team, as well as managing QA performance delivered by outsourced, off-shore IT QA partners. Responsible for organization structure and sourcing decisions and all people management activities including hiring, training and onboarding, goal setting, performance management, and development of entire onshore and offshore IT QA team.  Build, manage, motivate and develop teams to monitor and drive consistent quality, efficiency and enhanced technology solutions that meet the defined high-quality standards.
  • Drive the development and refinement of tools and approaches to “mine” IT Quality Assurance data to detect performance trends, process or training gaps, service improvements and efficiency opportunities.
  • Ensure root cause analysis and feedback of findings in order to identify underlying process and reporting issues within IT quality processes and solutions.  Based on quantitative insights developed per above, lead development of recommended remediation actions or initiatives to drive improvements in technology quality performance levels.
  • Develop strategy, build business case, obtain executive approval for, and lead the execution of Strategic Automation Roadmap and Performance testing framework for the IT Quality Assurance function.  Provides effective organizational leadership and collaboration as a part of the Leadership Group. Maintains effective 
  • relationships with organizational leadership to fully understand their I.T. related needs.   Ensures effective collaboration I.T. Management and Business leadership as well as external sourcing vendors to ensure that all I.T. processes are maintained and enhanced in support of the mission and goals.
  • Provides innovative solutions to organizational information needs through research, leadership and mentoring.

Education Required
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or Information Technology
Education Preferred
Master's Degree in Business Administration or Information Technology
In lieu of degree, equivalent education and/or experience may be considered.


  • At least 7 years of experience and working knowledge of Quality Engineering practices including functional and non-functional testing, automation and performance testing.
  • At least 5-7 years of supervisory/management in leading a large, complex I.T. environment.  
  • Experience in Production/Issue Management and Quality Assurance disciplines, standards, processes and workflow.


  • Full knowledge of the SDLC framework and Waterfall, Scrum and agile project methodologies.
  • Well versed in utilization of project artifacts including architecture design, requirements decomposition, and application development deliverables.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to interact and develop effective working relationships across organizational lines.
  • Detail oriented; strong organizational, analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple responsibilities, deadlines and changing priorities.
  • Possess a high level of initiative, be a self-starter, self-directed, highly motivated and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • General Management/Leadership skills.
