Job Summary
The J2EE Developer III supports development and integration of new and existing critical business applications using primarily JAVA\JEE, SOA, Spring MVC, XML, HTML with Oracle RDBMS and MS and PLSQL. This position has the responsibility to analyze user requests for determining best design and implementation of business solutions on UNIX, Linux and Windows platforms, collaboratively. This position requires experience in development, implementation, and integration of business applications across multiple platforms on Windows, UNIX O/S and Linux environments. This position, must also ensure that documentation is created for system designs and modifications, and assist collaboratively in following the established software development life cycle procedures to develop, test and modify system software, utilities; support integrations with other applications by coding, reviewing, preparing test data, testing and debugging, in order to ensure that the developed software is robust and meets user functional and performance requirements. Acts as a Subject Matter Expert, serves as a resource and mentor for other staff.
Duties
Develop JAVA/J2EE, XML programs to enhance capabilities of L.A. Care Business critical application and transaction system. Support, develop and maintain new and existing applications.
Customer support for our business units. Fix problems that arise in IS as well as for the user community. Maintain existing business applications.
Develop new solutions to our changing business needs. Bring new ideas in our ongoing development.
Prepare short and long term plans to address infrastructure projects as well as support to and technical leadership for internally/externally sponsored company projects. Successful completion of projects and coordinated effort in capacity planning along with Manager.
Ensure all application and database projects and processes are fully documented. Ensure complete technical documentation exists for all development and maintenance projects and processes.
Recommend schedules for application and system upgrades; assist in the planning and implementation of major software upgrades; adhere to change management procedures and methodologies, ensure well maintained databases and appropriate timing in upgrades. Database team adheres to change management procedures and technical coding guidelines.
Applies subject expertise in evaluating business operations and processes. Identifies areas where technical solutions would improve business performance. Consults across business operations, providing mentorship, and contributing specialized knowledge. Ensures that the facts and details are correct so that the project’s/program's deliverable meets the needs of the department, organization and legislation's policies, standards, and best practices. Provides training, recommends process improvements, and mentors junior level staff, department interns, etc. as needed.

Required:
At least 5 years of experience in programming; JAVA/J2EE, XML with backend Oracle, PL MS SQL database and application servers.
Preferred:
SOA knowledge and experience.
Project management skills and experience.
Healthcare HMO experience a plus.

Excellent and extensive knowledge of JAVAJ2EE systems.
Must have the ability to code complex JAVA packages, functions, and procedures.
Solid communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation).
