Job Summary

The Manager, Network Administration is responsible for providing network support for the mission critical network systems for L.A. Care. This includes managing and troubleshooting escalated IP equipment/LAN/WAN problems, and performance tuning. The Manager will act as an escalation point for the Network Support staff regarding network related or phone problems. Oversee the troubleshooting of LAN/WAN equipment i.e. CISCO, etc.  Manage daily routine maintenance of all network devices. Monitors network to ensure constant uptime. Supports and maintains firewall and network security policies and IDS. Implements new technologies platforms for the network environment. Plan and guide network disaster recovery exercises to demonstrate the capability of establishing Telecommunications in the event of an outage. Provides instructions and pre-established guidelines to staff. Perform research, evaluation, installation, and upgrades of network hardware and applications. 

Duties

Configuration and Maintenance of Cisco routers, switches, firewalls and Enterprise Wi-Fi. Manages network infrastructure including development and implementation of wiring configuration standards connectivity solutions, overall network operation systems, network software, network file systems, directory structure and LAN/WAN system integrity and security. Plans, administers and manages all computer network functions for L.A Care. Ensures that L.A Care Network is operating at maximum efficiency with proper security. Analyzes system or application usage and plans for growth or increases in network capacity or bandwidth.

 

Work with network technologies and converged network products. Works with management to determine resource requirements, budget, and personnel needed to preserve the network in a productive status. Evaluates end user needs and recommends appropriate equipment and network software configurations. Assists with the acquisition and directs the installation of new network hardware, security, hardware and network software systems.

 

Provide network diagnoses and resolution for current networks/systems. Works closely with L.A. Care departments ensuring a smooth network connectivity for all applications on desktops and laptops. Ensures Systems compliance and assists with the installation of applications on the desktop and laptop computers. Practices network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information. 

 

Participate in Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Implementation. Manages the fiber and data voice connectivity for multiple and wireless access systems. This also includes cloud based applications. Manages the maintenance of all Network Devices in the organization. Network Security includes: working with security team on Complex Security Issues. Provides training to staff in the use of their Network computer systems. Works with other Department/Division managers, assists in performing needs assessment and strategic Information Technology (I.T.) planning. Maintains ongoing communication with all departments to improve operations, meet needs and resolve problems with new and/or existing systems.

 

Integrate complex network hardware and software systems. Responsible for the installation and configuration of all network hardware and software. Assists the Director in preparing the Information Technology (I.T.) budget by recommending purchases of hardware, software and system maintenance items needed to operate the L.A. Care network. Manages the above programs in an efficient and cost effective manner by overseeing bids and contract negotiations with Information Technology (I.T.) vendors.

 

Route protocols, including BGP, IGRP, EIGRP and OSPF. Process automation and Creating SOP. Implement multiple security policies and procedures. Distributes and manages I.T. Network space allotments.

 

Perform other duties as assigned.

Education Required

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science
In lieu of degree, equivalent education and/or experience may be considered.

Required:
At least 6-8 years in network administration.

 

Minimum 3-5 years of supervisory/management experience.

Skills


Required:
Demonstrates superior knowledge of network equipment and software as well as emerging industry trends.

 

Working knowledge of LAN/ WAN topologies and architecture.

 

Must be able to construct, operate and maintain LAN/ WAN Networks.

 

A complete knowledge of gigabit and Ethernet topology interfacing with network IP phone systems.

 

Must be able to research and solve associated problems.

 

A complete knowledge of network equipment such as switches, routers, hubs and how to construct and maintain networks Must also have a working knowledge of the software control systems for networks. 

 

Must have knowledge of firewall servers and security background.

 

Understands, installs and configures network equipment utilizing varied protocols.

 

Must be able to install, configure, and administer the Network Systems.

 

Must be able to understand and follow verbal and written instructions and explain technical material.

 

Develop effective working relationships with customers, co-workers and administration.

 

Ability to analyze network problems and resolve issues efficiently.

 

Ability to train users on network concepts and methodologies as well as specific application utilization and configuration.
