Job Summary

The Provider Data Unit Report Writer Analyst II is responsible for taking the lead role in the department's efforts to:

Develop, maintain, and generate routine and ad-hoc reports to identify, measure and monitor workload and quality, as well as to notify any outstanding/pending requests and provide other significant department metrics, etc.

 

Design and build macros, queries, reports, and dashboards using available tools adhering to established frameworks and standards.

 

Create documentation for all design specifications, implementation methods, and user material (including training guides) for new reports, and existing reports as they are updated.

 

Maintain and update primary reporting tools such as the Provider Add Change Delete Workflow (PCDW) report and Provider Data Management (PDM) application for the data associates.

 

Analyze results to assist the department leadership to strategically focus on problem areas within provider data, staff productivity and quality, work distribution, and department metrics in general.

 

Create and maintain data integrity reports for clean-up efforts and special projects with I.T. data services team.

 

Consult and collaborate with end-users, report writers from other areas, L.A. Care management, and/or database administrators to address any issues contributing to inaccurate or inefficient processing of provider data, and to coordinate corrections to the data or resulting queries and reports.

 

Design, develop, and maintain efficient SQL code to perform basic functions such as retrieving data from various databases and joining tables as part of the reporting and analysis process.

Duties

Create, update, and manage all routine workflow and ad hoc reports for the Provider Data Unit (PDU), including the generation of metrics, dashboards, productivity reports, etc.

 

Create, update, and manage data integrity and other quality driven reports, including regularly generated and ad hoc reports.

 

Provide analysis for all data generated and loaded by the PDU (or others) as directed.  Provide input and/or recommendations for improvement of data quality/integrity.

 

Collaborate with other departments/area and attend meetings which support the PDU department in providing quality data.

 

Document all processes and procedures related to the creation and generation of reports for: historical reference, replication of reports by other report writers, and user guides.

 

Perform other duties as assigned.

Education Required

Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or Healthcare Administration
In lieu of degree, equivalent education and/or experience may be considered.

Experience

Required:

At least 3 years of experience working in a reports development role and direct experience developing reports derived from a SQL or Oracle database. 

 

At least 3 years of experience working in a healthcare setting, preferably with a managed care health plan involving significant interaction with provider network data.

 

Must have a sound understanding of Business Intelligence best practices/methodologies; experience with relational structures, data warehouse and reporting techniques; and an in depth knowledge of report development in a structured query language (SQL) environment.

Skills

Required:
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite products (especially Excel and Access).

 

Ability to perform extensive root cause identification and analysis of problem areas.

Be able to work in an environment where critical time constraints exist.


Must have excellent communication skills, strong analytical skills, and have the ability to work effectively with users, technical personnel, and leadership team members. 

 

Must be extremely organized with a high level of attention to details and follow-through.

Must have keen Quality Assurance (QA) concepts on report results and ability to proactively find methods to assist in maintaining good data quality.

 

Preferred:
Familiarity with medical terminology, specifically as it relates to provider network data in managed care, is preferred.

Salary Range Disclaimer: The expected pay range is based on many factors such as geography, experience, education, and the market.  The range is subject to change.

 

This position is a limited duration position. The term of this position is a minimum one year and maximum of two years from the start date unless terminated earlier by either party. Limited duration positions are full-time positions and are eligible to receive full benefits.
