Job Summary

As the student intern enters the company, this position is expected to assume, as much as possible, the role of a regular staff member. 

Duties

Assists with specialized project and administrative tasks to ensure the coordination and completion of all segments of the assigned project. Compiles and consolidates reports and prepares presentation based on findings or outcomes.

Provides the faculty coordinator with periodic progress reports.

Education Required

Must be enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate degree and field placement program.

Intern for Contracting and Relationship Management (CRM) Ancillary team

The CRM Ancillary Team internship will receive first-hand experience in understanding and developing health care contracting and provider relation efforts at the health plan level. The intern will learn and utilize effective communication, project planning, meeting support, note-taking, and other tasks as assigned.   

The intern will be expected to display the following core competencies.
 
•    Professionalism and the ability to work with various departments.
•    Solid and concise writing skills and knowledge to promptly summarize complex topics or issues.
•    Ability to take the initiative to ask questions and recommend solutions. 
•    Critical thinking skills and the ability to recognize the root causes of problems and have a problem solving 
•    Teamwork, delegation, and experience in cooperation on complex projects.
 
Norma Carrillo, Manager of CRM Ancillary is a teacher who will educate the intern and ensure they understand the Medi-Cal Managed Care world and familiarize the intern with both our provider contracts and our provider network.   The intern will develop skills such as managed care operations, understanding of L.A. County's health system, data collection, and analysis, contracting needs assessments, strategic planning, program development/management/evaluation, process improvement, health plan administration, and note-taking. 

Possible Internship Duties will include  
•    Conducting reviews of provider directory accuracy and assist in date collection efforts of correct demographic and required fields.  This will be a major project for the intern to work hand in hand with our Account Specialists.  This is a major project organizationally wide as accuracy of the provider directory is an essential area we are addressing.  
•    Contribute to Letter of Interest process and new provider evaluation efforts
•    Observe and assist in provider meetings, including Long Term Care and CBAS Quarterly Meetings
•    Provides support in functional areas of the department which the intern is placed

    Fluency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).   Excel is crucial for his/her role.
