Job Summary

As the student intern enters the company, this position is expected to assume, as much as possible, the role of a regular staff member. 

Duties

Assists with specialized project and administrative tasks to ensure the coordination and completion of all segments of the assigned project. Compiles and consolidates reports and prepares presentation based on findings or outcomes.

Education Required

Must be enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate degree and field placement program.

Student Intern – Regulatory Affairs and Reporting (Compliance)

Internship Overview:
•    The Regulatory Affairs & Reporting team within Compliance serves as LA. Care’s main liaison with regulatory agencies, including the Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). 
•    The intern will utilize and develop skills related to project management, regulatory affairs and research, data report collection and review, managed care/health plan administration, problem-solving, meeting facilitation, and note-taking.

Possible Internship Duties:
•    Assist in management of regulatory inquiries and report submissions. 
•    Conduct and aggregate regulatory research to identify regulatory requirements impacting the Regulatory Affairs & Reporting team. 
•    Support implementation and enhancements to team processes such as regulatory inquiry and report management. This includes meeting scheduling and coordination, regulatory analysis, documenting workflows, and assisting in process improvement efforts.
•    Provide support for the Medicare Data Validation (MDV) audit, including data collection and review, making updates to work plans/trackers, meeting scheduling and coordination, and regulatory analysis of audit requirements.
•    Support coordination and management of regulator meetings, including collection of meeting deliverables, stakeholder outreach, and note-taking.

•    Interest in and desire to learn about healthcare compliance and/or managed healthcare.
•    Analytical and problem-solving skills.
•    Effective verbal and written communication skills across a variety of stakeholders and settings.
•    Ability to work cooperatively with others.
•    Ability to adapt to changing business needs.
•    (Preferred) Knowledge in compliance and/or managed healthcare.
•    (Preferred) Knowledge in working with technology platforms such as Microsoft 365, SmartSheet, etc.
